Warts

Home » Conditions » Warts

Warts are small, rough, viral growths on the skin. They are very common and are usually spread by direct skin-to-skin contact or indirectly through shared contact with contaminated surfaces. Warts do not usually cause any other symptoms in people with normally functioning immune systems and usually resolve without treatment, although this can take months or years.

REQUIRED TREATMENT

In most cases cryotherapy or acids are the first treatment for warts. However, diathermy targets the ‘mother warts’. It is effective in 65-85% of cases and is the go-to solution for persistent warts.

TREATING MULTIPLE WARTS

When treating multiple common warts it may be necessary to have more than one diathermy treatment. One month after the skin has healed the remaining wart can be treated again.
