  • Skin Tags Removal in Sensitive Areas - Choose Qualified Electrolysis Professional

Skin tags are a common skin condition resembling a soft small piece of hanging skin.  Derived from skin cells and composed of loose fibrous tissue they can present as either single or multiple.  Their often hyper-pigmented colour makes them more obvious and although they are harmless they can be irritating and cosmetically unattractive and because of that skin tag removal is a much sought after treatment. They appear the shape of a lollipop or mushroom and vary in size - from a tiny speck, smaller than a grain of uncooked rice, to the size of a large pea, or larger.

They are found on perfectly healthy people and are not directly associated with any other major medical conditions although heredity also has its part to play.  The cause remains unproven with ongoing discussions whether they originate from the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) continuing.  Some people are more susceptible to skin tags, they are most common in older people, overweight people, can appear in pregnancy and individuals with diabetes.

They become particularly irritating when they develop in sensitive areas.  Normally they appear anywhere on the body but are most frequently found on the neck where friction from necklaces, collars and scarves are to blame or under the arms where friction from arms rubbing and seams from clothes are the initiating factor.  However they often appear in very sensitive areas such as under the breasts or near the groin, the genitalia and around the eye, even presenting between eyelashes and thus affecting vision.

Sterex Electrolysis International Limited is a major manufacturing British, Birmingham based company who offer courses on how to achieve skin tag removal using electrolysis.  Their courses feature skin blemish removal of 20 different irritating skin lesions including skin tag treatment.  Sterex offers regular award winning training Continue reading

  • Age Spot Treatment and Prevention

Whatever we call them…sun spots, liver spots, brown spots, cafe au lait spots, hyper-pigmentation, lentigines or age spots, they are considered cosmetically unattractive.  Age spot… the very name is indicative of getting older and less attractive.    These unattractive mottled marks that often spoil our complexion are not just down to age however and are usually the payback for years of sun-drenched vacations and SPF-less sunbathing.  UV exposure encourages dark-pigment-producing melanocyte cells into overdrive, and the melanin they make clusters into dark spots thus giving the mottled appearance that is so disliked by all genders.

Usually age spots are pretty harmless, appearing as flat, brown discolouration patches on the skin most often on the back of the hands, neck and face of people above the age of 40.   They are not contagious and not usually serious or dangerous.  However more skin cancer cases are being recognised year on year and basal cell carcinomas, squamous cell carcinomas and malignant melanomas are on the increase. It is not uncommon for actinic keratosis or other skin cancers to develop in areas where age spots are apparent and any suspect age spot could be a solar keratosis or a more serious skin cancer and it is wise to have them checked by a doctor if any are irregular, increase in size or change in colour, texture, itch or bleed.

Prevention, rather than treatment for age spot removal after they appear, is always the best option.  But how to prevent them Continue reading

  • Be Beach-Ready with Electrolysis

The summer season is almost upon us and with warmer weather and lighter clothing comes the concern about hair removal. We start being self-conscious about the hair on our body that could be easily hidden during winter with long sleeves and thick leggings.

However, summer is not only the season when you are happy to be rid of the winter coat and gloves, but also it is when you start planning vacations and especially escaping to a beach paradise. Tanning in the sun and swimming would be even more enjoyable if you did not have to worry about hair removal.

Usually, some of the preferred methods for quick resolution of this concern is using depilatory creams, razors and waxing. However, none of these methods guarantee lasting results and you will have to carry one of these products in your luggage and maybe worry if you will go through airport security with a sharp object or a tube that looks bigger than 100ml of liquid.
