  • The History of Electrolysis

    Electrolysis was invented in 1875 by ophthalmologist Dr Charles E Michel who carried out research on electrical currents and realised that if a direct current was placed into a salt and water solution, due to the movement of ions, chemical changes took place. Amongst a number of other changes Sodium Hydroxide is produced. Michel knew the caustic nature of Sodium Hydroxide and was convinced it would coagulate the dermal papilla of the hair resulting in the destruction of the hair follicle. Continue reading
